Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 1 May 2025 · Sawat Watch Repair & Restoration

Please read these terms before leaving your watch with us. They set out how we work, what we are responsible for, and what you can expect from both sides. If anything is unclear, we are happy to talk it through — just call or visit the workshop.

1. About Us

Sawat Watch Repair & Restoration operates from 64 Phang Nga Road, Talat Yai, Phuket 83000, Thailand ("the workshop"). By leaving a watch with us or submitting an enquiry through our website, you accept these terms. References to "we", "us", and "our" mean Sawat.

2. Services Offered

We offer three levels of service for mechanical watches:

  • Light Service & Adjustment — a tune-up covering accessible cleaning, light lubrication, bracelet and strap adjustment, timing regulation, crown and crystal inspection, and care advice. Estimated duration: approximately one week. From ฿4,400.
  • Movement Service — a complete disassembly, cleaning, re-oiling and reassembly of the movement, with balance and mainspring review and seal refresh. Estimated duration: approximately three weeks. From ฿9,300.
  • Sentimental Restoration — a thorough overhaul of the movement along with case and dial restoration in keeping with the watch's original character. Photographic records provided throughout. Estimated duration: five to eight weeks. From ฿14,500.

Prices stated are starting points. A firm quotation will be provided before any work begins and is valid for thirty days. No work will proceed without your approval of the quotation.

3. Intake and Assessment

When you bring a watch to us, we will record its visible condition in writing and, where practical, photograph it before beginning any work. You will receive a copy of this intake record. This is for both our protection and yours — it means the starting condition of your watch is agreed before we touch it.

If assessment reveals that the work needed differs materially from what was initially discussed, we will contact you with a revised estimate. You may choose to proceed, to have us return the watch unserviced, or to discuss an alternative approach. A disassembly fee may apply if substantial assessment work has already taken place; this will be advised before disassembly begins.

4. Your Responsibilities

When leaving a watch with us, please:

  • Provide accurate information about the watch's history, any known faults, and any previous repairs where you are aware of them.
  • Let us know if the watch has sentimental or insurance value that may affect how you wish us to proceed.
  • Keep us informed of any change to your contact details during the service period.
  • Collect your watch within sixty days of notification that it is ready. See Section 9 for uncollected items.

5. Timelines

Estimated durations are given in good faith based on typical workloads and parts availability. They are not binding commitments. Some watches — particularly older or unusual calibres — may require additional time to source parts or to carry out careful work without risk. We will keep you informed of any significant change to the expected timeline.

6. Pricing and Payment

All prices are quoted and payable in Thai Baht (฿). Payment is due on collection of the watch. We accept cash and major credit and debit cards. We do not require a deposit for most services, though we reserve the right to request a deposit for parts-intensive restorations.

If you request additional work during the service period, a revised quotation will be issued and must be approved before the additional work begins.

7. Parts and Materials

We use manufacturer-genuine, aftermarket, or period-correct components depending on availability and the nature of the restoration. Where parts choices may affect the watch's character, originality, or value, we will discuss the options with you before proceeding. We do not use low-quality substitutes without your knowledge.

8. Liability

We take considerable care with every watch that enters the workshop. However, some limitations apply:

  • We are not liable for pre-existing conditions that are not visible at intake and emerge during service — for example, a hairline crack in an old crystal that becomes apparent under cleaning.
  • We are not liable for any consequential loss arising from delay in service completion, including costs of alternative timekeeping or missed events.
  • Our liability for loss or damage caused by our negligence is limited to the cost of the service paid, or the assessed replacement cost of an equivalent movement or watch at the time of intake, whichever is lower. We recommend that watches of significant value carry their own insurance.
  • We are not responsible for any watch left at the workshop without prior arrangement.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

9. Uncollected Watches

Once we have notified you that your watch is ready, please collect it within sixty calendar days. We will make at least two attempts to contact you — by telephone and by email — before the deadline passes.

If a watch remains uncollected after sixty days without contact from you, we may apply a storage fee of ฿150 per week. After six months without contact and collection, we reserve the right to dispose of uncollected items in accordance with applicable Thai law, applying any proceeds to outstanding charges.

10. Remote and Postal Services

We occasionally accept watches by post from customers outside Phuket. In such cases:

  • You are responsible for packaging the watch securely and for transit insurance on the inbound journey.
  • We will notify you of the return shipping cost before dispatch. Return postage and insurance are at your expense.
  • We are not responsible for loss or damage in transit by a third-party courier.
